KEC (Key Identity Access Device)

The Card Access Device (KEC) is a specialized card reader whose infrastructure was developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM for next-generation electronic ID cards. Thanks to its built-in GEM (Secure Access Module), the device communicates securely with the ID card and can read data fields inaccessible to standard card readers, such as the cardholder's personal message and biometric data. KDHS stands for identity verification service provider. KDHS authorization is granted by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs of the Ministry of Interior.
